Award winner comes home to Studio
Earlier this year, Studio Theatre’s production of Afterplay won the Totton Festival of Drama – a remarkable ten marks clear of the second-placed company. It also scooped the Best Director, Best Actress and Technical Achievement awards. This is the first chance the company has had to show it on home turf in its Salisbury theatre.
Brian Friel’s gentle, touching one-act play is set in a Moscow café where Andrey (George Goulding), brother of Chekhov’s Three Sisters, unexpectedly bumps into Uncle Vanya’s niece Sonya (Rachel Fletcher). It is 20 years since their stories were played out on stage. What has happened to them since? Over cabbage soup and vodka, truth and lies tumble out.
Afterplay will have just two performances (15 – 16 October), a later start time of 8pm and tickets at just £8 are available from Salisbury Information Centre (tel. 01722 342860) or www.ticketsource.co.uk/studiotheatresalisbury
