Summer Season 2020: An Update from London Repertory Theatre

“As of 6 June 2020, I have very reluctantly and sadly cancelled this year’s summer season, in negotiation with the Shelley. Due to begin in 7 1/2 weeks, with our first performance of Who Killed ‘Agatha’ Christie, I have left it as long as I could.

“But the Shelley Theatre will not reopen in time for the season to begin. Both Zoe at the Shelley and myself have really tried to make this happen but even if this were possible, social distancing measures would have to be enforced, as well as there being the risk of a company member showing symptoms and therefore closing down the season immediately. And, of course, there is the understandable reluctance of audiences to visit theatres. All in all, it means the decision to cancel had to be taken.

“It’s heartbreaking, as I feel this was the best season overall with a fantastic company assembled. But time will go by and next summer we hope to stage this season, lock stock and barrel, just 12 months late! Keep your eye on the website as the programme is dependent on the same plays being available for us to perform.

“However, whatever the bill of fare, LRP will return to the Shelley Theatre in Bournemouth for our fifth Summer Season with five plays in five weeks, starting on Thursday 29 July and running until Tuesday 31 August 2021.

“Please watch out for updates around Christmas.

“The theatre will contact you directly about refunds if you have already bought tickets for this summer; however, as we intend to hold the same prices at all levels, including Early Bird, you can request the credit in your account to be put towards the next LRP season in Summer 2021.

“Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you (back!) next summer. We hope you will miss us as we will most certainly miss you!

“All best wishes, stay safe and well.”
