20 March 2020: Coronavirus update
Today, in increasing efforts to contain and prevent the further spread of coronavirus, the Government has ordered all theatres to officially close until further notice. Although we would all wish that the “show could go on”, this is not possible at the present time – public health and safety must come before all else, though we share your disappointment at the necessary temporary halt to performances.
The Scene One+ Team greatly value the Societies, Companies and Theatre Groups who have performed live theatre in the Dorset, Hampshire and South Wiltshire region, as well as the audiences and reviewers who have visited such a wide variety of shows, and we hope that we will all be able to do so again in the not too distant future.
If you have bought tickets for a show that has been postponed due to coronavirus, you will undoubtedly be disappointed. After weeks or months of rehearsals to bring live theatre to you, so will all the respective cast, crew and production teams.
Please keep watching for information of rearranged productions once these unprecedented measures have been lifted and offer your support where you can.
For the time being, the curtain has lowered – but let’s consider this as an extended intermission between Acts. For now, Scene One+ will also take a break from posting on the website and Facebook page, and focus on the importance of health and family, but – like the shows – we will return (and continue to monitor and respond to emails and messages). The pandemic will end and the theatres will open once again.
We hope you stay well, comply with all the precautions that are being put in place for your safety in the meantime, and join us when the curtain goes up once more.
