This was my first time visiting RMDS for their summer show, so I had no idea what to expect. Three sets of cast performing three shows, three times in one night! That in itself is a feat and I must commend the cast on their energy and enthusiasm in each performance, by the time I saw the last one (Listerine) it would have been their third performance!

History was my favourite of all three plays, in this one, we have a bunch of ghosts from different historical periods stuck in an old building which may be about to be knocked down…..The storyline to this one was meaningful and I could see this being performed at schools as a fun way to learn some history! Each cast member in this play was a really strong singer, with special mention to “Ann Rose” for some cracking vocals and a beautiful duet between “WW2 Soldier” and “Plague girl”, also some lovely opera singing from “Dame Sadie” I wish that the programme included the casts names alongside their character name as so many in this cast stood out.

Mystery was a fun tale of ghosts and ghouls in a haunted house with our favourite cartoon characters on the case….who? Well Daphne, Fred, Velma and Shaggy of course! And not forgetting Scooby Doo who also makes an appearance. Some great choreography and classic songs were reworked to fit the play which were hilarious. Fab costumes and makeup and a wonderfully painted set. It was a joy to see the cast having so much fun and enjoying themselves.

Listerine, was set at a party with a lot of the action taking place in the bathroom….where else? Some hilarious scenes with various characters and again some great vocals and choreography. I loved that all the cast were dressed in red, black, white and sparkle, this made all the dance numbers stand out. It was a very clever touch!

In all three plays sometimes the music was slightly too loud making some of the cast members difficult to hear, which was a shame. It was, however,  a great evening of entertainment with many laughs and some fabulous dance routines and great tunes!

This year RMDS are raising money for SARF so if you can get a ticket definitely go along! One word of advice,  don’t sit too close to the front at Listerine!!
